Il 4 giugno 1604 nasceva a Firenze Claudia de' Medici, sorella di Cosimo II. A 17 anni fu promessa sposa al duca d'Urbino Federico Ubaldo della Rovere, ultimo erede della famiglia dei Della Rovere (in realtà l'ultimissima erede sarebbe stata la figlia Vittoria ma essendo donna non contava). Il duca di Urbino morì poco dopo le nozze a causa di un attacco epilettico. Claudia tornò a Firenze con la figlia Vittoria già promessa sposa di Ferdinando II de' Medici (suo cugino), lasciando così il ducato di Urbino per sempre

The 4th of June 1604 , Claudia de ' Medici , sister of Cosimo II, was born in Florence . At 17 she was promised in marriage to the Duke of Urbino, Federico Ubaldo della Rovere , the last heir of the Della Rovere family (actually the latest heir was the daughter Vittoria but, being a woman, she did not count). The Duke of Urbino died shortly after the wedding due to an epileptic seizure. Claudia returned to Florence with her daughter Vittoria already betrothed to Ferdinand II de ' Medici ( his cousin ), leaving the Duchy of Urbino forever.
